more thoughts on moondust refinning....
BELOW) Recycling carbon by methanation and pyrolysis, the process by which CO is combined with hydrogen in the presence of a nickel or ruthenium catalyst to make methane and water which is then pyrolyzed, that is decomposed to carbon and hydrogen with heat while the water is electrolyzed to hydrogen and oxygen, will be at the heart of lunar moondust refinning operations.
                     CO+3H2---->CH4+H2O  CH4---->C+2H2   H2O----> H2+Oxygen byproduct
The hydrogen and carbon are recycled endlessly and leakage is made up for by volatile harvesting during 3he mining and volatile harvesting done for the sake of itself....The FFC process will also be vital to regolith refnining to get silicon and titanium.

An Al/Si alloy can also be cooled until the silicon solidifies and is then filtered out.  Brute force boiling of the Al/Si alloy would certainly drive Mg, Na, K and P out of the silicon. Perhaps even Mn and Cr could be boiled out of the silicon. However, we are talking about temps. of 2500 C+!  I don't know if that would be practical in any way.  Perhaps the boiling points could be lowered to tolerable temperatures by reducing the pressure in the solar furnace by using the free vacuum of Luna.
